Whoa…all I can say for now. Been cranking away this week. Some of the stuff that caught my eye in the last day or so. Many thanks to Andy Hudson-Smith at Digital Urban for the posting about Edushi.com on BlinkGeo Stories. This is an impressive RIA that has given me much food for thought.
Finally getting a chance to turn some attention to the blog and post on some of my thoughts (though I do enjoy posting those karma links). So what’s been on my mind lately? So I’ve been trying to sort out what makes something sticky…sticky in the sense of catchy, captivating, compelling, [insert your own term here]. And more specifically, I am trying to understand whether there are patterns/trends that make something sticky in the general genre of technology, and if so, whether those patterns/trends transfer to the geospatial community, both from within or from the outside. In essence, I have been trying to wrap my mind around how the GIS industry/community can become more sticky (though not necessarily more mainstream). Why you ask? [Read more…]

Mother Jones Magazine has an insightful article on Traffic.com, including some jarring statistics about the Navteq subsidiary, such as the fact that it was awarded over $50 million in sole source government contracts. Can you say pork and barrel at the same time?
