New! Geospatial Content + RSS Aggregation = Goodness

By Andres | In Say Wut?

Whoa…all I can say for now. Been cranking away this week. Some of the stuff that caught my eye in the last day or so. Many thanks to Andy Hudson-Smith at Digital Urban for the posting about Edushi.com on BlinkGeo Stories. This is an impressive RIA that has given me much food for thought.

Old news to some, but I am still exploring the new Google Maps ‘Terrain’ feature. And, no, I don’t think that Google Earth is going away anytime soon. Though it’s been a hoot to read the different reactions to this post. And of course, there is the news about Google Mobile Maps tracking location (roughly) without GPS.

Check out this inspiring article on a grass-roots effort to map Mount Diablo in California. A group of volunteers has created a ’supermap’ of trails on more than 90,000 acres of open space and parks. On a kind of related note, two scientists have proposed a new human-centric map of the world.

Guy Kawasaki has an insightful post titled the ‘Six Lessons of Kiva.’ If you are not familiar with Kiva, check it out here…it is a very cool project focused on micro loans made by everyday people around the world. As always, Guy’s observations are dead-on, and I will be integrating some of his thinking into my ‘Making GIS Sticky‘ series.

Lastly, a sincere congratulations to Chris Spagnuolo and Dave Bouwman on their new endeavor (and their new digs). Kudos as well on stepping up the evangelism of Agile Development in the geospatial community…several interesting links on Agile have come across the wire on BlinkGeo stories.
