Greetings to all. Wishing you all happy holidays from Queretaro, Mexico. Figured I would take a couple minutes off from my holiday to pass on some links. Likely won’t post again until I am stateside.

Zillow provides two new API calls that provide demographic information for cities and neighborhoods. From their blog:
“These new API calls allows us to get information about local areas in front of a broader audience; at the same time it provides sticky and compelling content for other Web sites.”

I am looking forward to seeing the Waldseemeuller 1507 World Map when I am in Washington, DC next week. Washington Post has a great little article on the 36-square foot map which is now on permanent display at the Library of Congress.

Mozilla has launched Weave, a new project within Mozilla labs that aims to provide optional online services for Firefox (standards-based of course). So it looks like even Mozilla is getting into the web services ‘thing.’ [via TechCrunch]

Looks like unclassified contracts at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency will not be made available to the public on a new web site called USAspending.gov, which is supposed to show taxpayers how government money is distributed to private companies and which lawmakers and congressional districts receive the most lucrative contracts.

Some fluffy tech predictions for 2008 at PC World and The Phoenix. Some of the predictions: Facebook Fatigue, a ‘Greener’ Internet (or ‘Internets’ if you’re GWB), electronic voting headaches, and the evolution of mobile networks.

Lastly, I figured I would share some basic information about BlinkGeo Stories (you still haven’t joined and participated yet?). Since it’s launch168 days ago, 366 stories were published (666 total stories were submitted) on BlinkGeo Stories. A total of 2,611 votes have been cast, and there are currently 170 users (and growing), though a small percentage of users are active on a regular basis. We’ll see what 2008 holds in store for the little ‘geospatial Digg’ that could…
