Wow. I am suffering from a euphoric overload of information from RSS feeds, tweets, and emails that collectively help me stay somewhat in the loop. Still not using RSS or Twitter? Even if you don’t plan on posting tweets, I encourage you to sign up and follow fellow geo folks (or subscribe to their Twitter RSS) to get in on some informal thoughts/comments/questions.
And I’ve tried to make it easy for you to venture forth and get your RSS/Twitter groove on.
You can download a boilerplate OPML file here. OPML files allow you to automagically import a list of RSS feeds into an account. Set up a Google Reader account, import the OPML file, and you will have a nice starter set of RSS feeds. Hey, maybe we can get a little OPML love going and you can share your OPML files with others (including me!)…
Twitter? You can see who I am following here (I am adding new people every week). You can also use TweetScan to search for tweets that have certain keywords, such as ‘GIS‘ or ‘geospatial‘ or whatever you like. TweetScan even has, you guessed it, RSS feeds for the searches. Let me know if you’re on Twitter so that I can follow you.
Emails? Well, yes, I do still subscribe to some ‘old school’ email lists and of course some of the less ephemeral info needs to be sent by colleagues, peers, friends, cohorts and the like. Those, of course, I likely won’t share. ![]()
